Membership Inquiries

Membership in NBYC is open to families and individuals who are interested in sharing, exploring, learning, and enjoying boating and water activities in Eastern North Carolina. You will find a great place to meet friends, make new ones and enjoy the Benefits of NBYC Membership.
  • Year-round roster of local and long-distance cruises for sail, power and “oar driven” boats (Including spontaneous water outings affectionately known as “flash” cruises)!

  • Year-round social events with a variety of themes (and always-delicious food).
  • Monthly General Meetings and social time held at 7:30 pm on 4th Tuesdays.
  • Attractive clubhouse with meeting room, kitchen, screen porch, landscaped grounds, expansive water views and beautiful sunsets – an ideal gathering place for members.
  • Six boat slips available that will accommodate boats up to 35’ to 37’ with power and water for long-term rentals (members only) at reasonable rates - plus, a day-use face dock.
  • Members’ free use of our delightful clubhouse for personal events and gatherings.
  • Marine education through monthly speakers and club sponsored programs – plus a wealth of local knowledge and nautical skills within the membership!
    We encourage all members to participate in as many activities as possible!

Membership Opportunities
NBYC regularly has a limited number of membership opportunities available to boaters interested in joining a member-friendly club with a casual lifestyle. A one-time initiation fee of $500 is due with the membership application. Annual dues are $225 per adult, with no charge for minor children living at home. Dues are prorated for new members who join during the calendar year. Annual dues are due by January 1st of each year. Slip rentals, for members only, have reasonable annual fees and are based on availability. For slip information, contact the Rear Commodore at [email protected].
Cruising and social events are self-supporting and typically require pre-payment from participants for meals or other paid activities.

Volunteerism
NBYC members work together on all aspects of operating the club; thus, volunteerism is key to our success. Members are expected to give some of their time to help manage the club’s affairs, maintain the property and organize a rewarding calendar of events. Depending on your interests, skills and creativity, volunteer opportunities include:

  • Serving as an Officer, Director or member of a Standing Committee.
  • Organizing a fun-loving cruise or social event.
NBYC is aware that well-qualified prospective members might be new to the area and not know a current member who can sponsor them for membership. To visit NBYC and to assist you in finding sponsors, please complete and submit the Membership Interest Form, and you will be contacted by our Membership Committee.
